HOUSTON, TX — Chill out—literally—this July at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, your go-to destination to escape the blazing Texas sun. This summer, we’re bringing you an awesome lineup of events, kicking off with Mind Over Matter, our summer workout series that’ll get you moving and grooving. Then, blast off to the George Observatory for Summer Solar Days and catch some incredible views of our sun. Dive deep with us for a fin-tastic Shark Week celebration, and don’t forget about Mixers & Elixirs, our adults-only evening of drinks, dancing, and dazzling discoveries under the dinosaurs. Finally, join us for our Summer Space Series where you’ll explore the cosmic wonders of the universe. Get ready to make some stellar summer memories.

· Event: Mind Over Matter – Summer Workout Series

HMNS Hermann Park | All summer long (check website for schedule of events)

Energize your body and mind each week with a dynamic workout session set among our incredible exhibits! From Yoga and Zumba to Pilates and more, each class blends movement with science, exploring the biomechanics behind every stretch, squat, and step.

After your workout, cool down with a refreshing juice and lap around the highlighted exhibit of the night, where you’ll uncover the science of strength, endurance, and evolution.

Whether you’re coming solo or with friends, this is the perfect place to connect with fellow fitness and science lovers all summer long.

· Event: Summer Solar Days

George Observatory | Various dates in July (check website for schedule of events)

See our star in stunning detail through telescopes, exhibits, and immersive shows. A daytime visit at the George Observatory with a focus on our closest star, the Sun! View live images of the Sun using solar telescopes. Enjoy a tour of the Research Dome and watch a Discovery Dome planetarium show. Learn about eclipses, the solar magnetic cycle, and more in our Exhibit Area, and shine as bright as the Sun! If the weather is cloudy, we will replace live viewing with video recordings.

*This is a timed & ticketed two-hour event. Choose from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Ticket does not include entry to Brazos Bend State Park.

· Event: Shark Week

HMNS Hermann Park | July 6 – 13 (check website for schedule of events)

Join us for a thrilling week as we celebrate the awe-inspiring world of ancient aquatic predators!

From fascinating lectures and immersive classes to exciting daytime activities, there’s something for every curious mind. Our passionate HMNS staff and knowledgeable volunteers will be leading hands-on day activities throughout the week, bringing prehistoric oceans to life for guests of all ages. Come ready to explore—you’re sure to uncover amazing facts, fearsome creatures!

· Event: Mixers & Elixers: Hey HMNS, Shuffle Playlist

HMNS Hermann Park | Friday, July 18 | 7:00 – 11:00 p.m.

Ditch the usual bar scene and step into something extraordinary. Mixers & Elixirs is where fascinating people, themed cocktails, and electrifying live music come together for a night of next-level fun. Wander off for a free flick in the Giant Screen Theatre or take a cosmic journey in the Burke Baker Planetarium—because this isn’t just a party, it’s an experience.

*Food & Beverage not included. This event is for adults 21 or older.

· Event: Summer Space Series

HMNS at Sugar Land | Saturday, July 19 | 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Join our resident space enthusiasts on an exciting journey through our solar system and beyond! Meet Solar System Ambassador Leonard Ferguson at HMNS Sugar Land as they unravel the wonders of our universe. Finish by creating your own space craft to take home and commemorate your cosmic adventure. Included with admission.
